Inauguration of eight-lane signal-free corridor at Okalipuram Junction soon

Initiated back in 2015, this ambitious project has finally come to fruition

At a cost of Rs 102 crore, corridor stands as a testament to civic progress

Bengaluru residents are set to breathe a sigh of relief from the perennial issue of traffic congestion with the imminent inauguration of an expansive eight-lane signal-free corridor at the Okalipuram Junction.

While the city holds a special place in the hearts of its inhabitants, the notorious Bengaluru Traffic has long been a significant challenge for all. However, there is now a beacon of hope, promising respite from the gridlock as this new corridor prepares to open its lanes to the public in the coming few days.

Initiated back in 2015, this ambitious project has finally come to fruition, thanks to the concerted efforts of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike. At a cost of Rs 102 crore, the corridor stands as a testament to both innovation and civic progress. Moreover, in the pursuit of seamless connectivity, an additional Rs 156 crore was disbursed to the Railway department for the acquisition of land, facilitating the construction of four concrete boxes beneath the Tumakuru-Bengaluru Railway line.

Among the key highlights of this infrastructure project is the construction of a flyover, strategically linking the entry and exit points to the old railway station. This seamless integration ensures that commuters can traverse the signal-free route with ease, even during the busiest peak hours, significantly enhancing accessibility and punctuality for those commuting to the station.
