Individual named Karthik C Airani intervened

They argued with the officials and ensured the farmer made his way through

This became a cause for  outrage on social media

A farmer who carried a bundle on his head was stopped from availing metro services in Bengaluru by officials as they found his clothes to be too stale for this occasion. A Hindi-speaking farmer entered the metro station and purchased tickets to enter the station. The official responsible for checking the luggage stopped him. He was stopped from proceeding on account of his clothes. An individual named Karthik C Airani however intervened. He was supported by another person. They pointed to the fact that the farmer does not pose any security threat nor is he in violation of any norms set by Namma Metro. They argued with the officials and ensured that the farmer made his way through.

This became a cause for  outrage on social media. People questioned whether Namma Metro is only meant for VIPs. They sought to know why a state that is inspired by the ideals of Basavanna has discarded the ideals of equality. “These security guys are untrained and think  metros as aeroplanes. Misbehaviour has become daily thing with them. One security was denying me to enter for carrying 100 gms chutney pudi (sic),” a user commented on the microblogging site X (formerly known as Twitter).
