Farmers have gone into depression: Shivu
The institution of marriage has been a crucial aspect of human society since times immemorial. However with the rising challenges in modern life, there are problems being faced by youngsters in this domain as well. A campaign has been taken out by the farmer’s community in Bengaluru in this regard.
The campaign highlighted the less stressful life being led in rural parts of the country as opposed to the IT sector wherein the discourse about 14-hour workdays have commenced. A demonstration was held outside the Valmiki statue located in the Ambedkar Nagar region of Bengaluru. “Alcoholics are not sidelined for the purposes of marriage. However those who produce milk have to bear the brunt,” seemed to be the sentiment echoed by the people who had gathered for the demonstration.
The farmers spoke to NewsFirst during the demonstration. “People of Turuvekere go to Raichur to secure their marriage. It has become a business. Rs 3 lakh to Rs 4 lakh is sought. The women end up leaving along with the properties owned by the men. More than 20 people are involved in such rackets. Farmers of the region have gone into depression as a result of this,” a farmer named Shivu expressed.
