Bengaluru: FSL report indicates Advocate Chaitra’s death being caused by suicide

    FSL report confirmed that note was written by Chaitra

    Postmortem report indicates suicide

Police investigation revealed that the death of lawyer Chaitra Gowda that had shocked Bengaluru was indeed a suicide. Earlier a death note was recovered by the police while examining the residence where the tragedy unfolded. 

The death note was later sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to ascertain whether the handwriting on the letter matches that of Chaitra. The FSL report confirmed that the note was written by Chaitra. The postmortem report also indicates to a likely suicide. She is also said to have been suffering from depression. “My husband is a gem of a person. I would urge him to enjoy his life. I am struggling with depression. I have tried to come out of it. But it has not been possible. I am ending my life. I know suicide is wrong. But I have no other choice,” her death note stated.

Her husband is a Karnataka Administrative Services (KAS) official. He was an Assistant Commissioner at the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB). Her death was reported on May 11th. Her body was found in an apartment within the jurisdiction of the Sanjayanagara Police Station. Chaotra was 35 years old at the time of her death. Apart from a lawyer, she was also a model. The couple also had a male child.
