Has Chinnaswamy stadium become a betting hub? Matches of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have come under the radar for illegal betting. The betting transactions are believed to take place within a span of 40 seconds. 3 bookies have been taken into custody from the Chinnaswamy stadium. The Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested Sharavana and 2 others. Betting is said to have taken place during the match between RCB and Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) on April 2nd. Betting in the tune of lakhs of rupees is believed to have taken place through phone calls and certain applications.

The bookies would operate from the VVIP gallery in the Chinnaswamy stadium. There is a 40 second difference between seeing the match from the stadium as opposed to television. This gave the bookies an added advantage. Spot booking is also reported to have been taking place. Spot booking refers to predictions on a ball-to-ball basis. The added advantage from watching the game in the stadium allowed them to loot others involved in betting of lakhs of rupees. The CCB arrested the individuals on the basis of an anonymous tipoff.
