Forest officials and special team from Mysuru, finally caught the leopard

For the last three days, the leopard has been giving sleepless nights to residents of Krishnareddy layout near Electronics city in Bengaluru. It is believed the big cat had strayed into this part of Bengaluru from Bannerghatta National Park. The efforts to catch the leopard had been going on incessantly for the last several hours with the forest officials and a special team from Mysuru, trained exclusively in catching wild animals, putting their lives at risk.

In fact earlier this morning (November 1), a member of the team that had arrived to capture the leopard got injured as he came in the line of attack. Fortunately, he escaped major injuries. He was shifted to a nearby hospital.

In the last few months, Bengaluru has sighted quiet a few leopard movements. Late last week, a leopard was sighted at Whitefield, with the police warning residents to not venture out of houses as it could endanger their lives.

The growing instances of wild animals squatting into human habitat only underlines and stresses the fact that man-animal conflict is a reality. As humans expand their territory, they only infringe upon animal habitats, thus robbing the animals of their living space.

The need of the hour is the harmonious relationship between man and nature.
