    Bengaluru Metro has seen a few suicide attempts on its tracks

    In some instances, animals were seen near the tracks

    The installation of PSDs plays a pivotal role

The death of a 23-year-old on the tracks of Namma Metro’s Attiguppe station in Bengaluru has sent shock waves across the city. Though the cause of death is yet to be ascertained, Namma Metro has been witness to such suicide attempts and incidents of people getting onto the tracks. 

Incident #1

Date: January 1, 2024
Place: Indiranagar Metro Station

On that day, a lady actually lowered herself on the tracks as her phone fell on them. The security personnel immediately snapped the power supply and pulled her out safely. 

Incident #2

Date: January 5, 2024
Place: Jalahalli Metro Station

On that day, a person by name Sharon jumped in front of a speeding train in order to commit suicide. He was later admitted to a hospital. 

Incident #3

Date: January 6, 2024
Place: JP Nagar Metro Station 

On that day, a black cat was spotted near the tracks. Immediately, security personnel were informed about its presence. Power supply was cut and the cat rescued.

Incident #4

Date: March 12, 2024
Place: Jnana Bharati Metro Station

On that day, an unidentified man was spotted on the tracks between the said station and Pattanagere. 

With so many incidents, the BMRCL will install PSDs which forbid entry to people on the tracks.
