Bengaluru: High Court dismisses petition filed by producers to quash Sudeep’s defamation suit

Serious allegations were made on Sandalwood actor Sudeep by producer-cum-distributor M.N Kumar. He had called for a press conference in the office of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) and alleged that Sudeep had promised him call sheets but failed to live up to his words. This conflict reached the doorstep of the courts. 

The Karnataka High Court has declined from quashing the case filed by Sudeep. The petition filed by N.M Suresh has not been accepted by the court. N.M Suresh was with M.N Kumar during the press conference. Sudeep claimed that these allegations caused damage to his stature in the film industry and filed defamation suit with regard to the statements made. 

Subsequently, a summons was issued by the 13th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court to the producers. The High Court bench consisting of Justice S.Vishwajeet stated that by issuing a summon the trial court has acted following the due course pertaining to the case. The statement was made while pronouncing the order that dismissed the petition.
