Tragedy struck the household of a Karnataka Administrative Services (KAS) officer as his wife, identified as Chaitra, a prominent Karnataka high court lawyer, was discovered dead by hanging in their residence in Sanjaynagar on Saturday. The deceased’s husband, Shivakumar, is a KAS officer.

A purported suicide note found at the scene revealed Chaitra’s inner turmoil, stating, “I am just leaving,” indicating her decision to end her life. However, suspicions were raised by her brother, prompting law enforcement to initiate an investigation under Section 174C of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Saidulu Adavath disclosed that authorities received distressing news around 1 pm, leading them to the grim discovery of Chaitra’s lifeless body suspended from a ceiling fan.

“We have opened a case of unnatural death following the brother’s concerns,” stated DCP Adavath. He elaborated on the contents of the March-dated suicide note, revealing Chaitra’s battle with depression and her farewell message to her husband, urging him to care for their daughter and find solace in life.

While the note was signed by Chaitra, investigators are pursuing further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding her untimely demise.
