BWSSB issues notice to hotels on Holi Rain Dance events

Notice urged hotels to celebrate a Dry Holi instead

Hotels were instructed not to utilize Cauvery water or tube wells

Officials from BWSSB (Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board) have issued a notice to hotels in Bengaluru regarding the announcement of Holi Rain Dance events. Specifically, BWSSB officials visited JK Grand Arena, Jayamahal Palace Hotel on Mysore Road among others.

The notice urged hotels to reconsider their plans and instead celebrate a Dry Holi, in line with BWSSB’s persuasion for a water-conserving approach to the festival.

Furthermore, hotels were instructed not to utilize water from the Cauvery River or tube wells for rain dance activities. Additionally, they were directed to install aerators for faucets to promote water conservation.

BWSSB emphasized that that there is no prohibition on celebrating Holi as a cultural festival. However, the use of rain dance and pool dance for commercial purposes is deemed excessive and wasteful.

Hotel staff have been duly informed of these instructions, and they have responded accordingly by agreeing not to proceed with rain dance and pool dance events as directed by the water board.

There has been considerable opposition to the squandering of water under the guise of Holi celebrations, prompting the intervention of BWSSB officials.

In conclusion, hotels are urged to adhere to these guidelines in the interest of responsible water usage and environmental conservation.
