More than 500 vehicles are parked on a daily basis

The pricing is said to be twice of the actual amount

The absence of a board indicating prices is concerning

The absence of a board indicating prices and the absence of the price amount of ticket has resulted in speculations that the pricing of tickets in the parking area of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus stop in Majestic is whimsical. Reports have suggested that a parking mafia is operating in the region. The pricing is said to be twice of the actual amount due from those availing the service.

More than 500 vehicles are parked on a daily basis  in the region. Some vehicles do not park for even 1 hour. Sometimes cars are parked for up to one day. Allegations of flouting of rules to charge exorbitant rates to those making use of the facility are being made.

Rs 30 is being collected from two-wheelers for having parked for one to two hours. Rs 100 is being collected for having parked for six hours. However as per rules, the amount to be charged for two wheelers that have been parked for less than 2 hours is Rs 10. If a two-wheeler has been parked for 4 to 8 hours the charge should be Rs 30. “We collect the amount as per established rules. We do not charge exorbitantly. These charges are false,” a person working in the facility said.
