Daring theft at a Joyalukkas Jewellery showroom in the heart of the city

Thief absconded with a solitaire diamond ring valued at a staggering Rs 75 lakh

Thief substituted an original diamond ring with a fake one

Bengaluru police are actively pursuing a suspect accused of orchestrating a daring theft at a Joyalukkas Jewellery showroom in the heart of the city. The perpetrator, described as an elderly individual sporting a beard, allegedly absconded with a prized solitaire diamond ring valued at a staggering Rs 75 lakh on February 18.

Prompted by a formal complaint lodged by Shibin V M, the showroom’s manager, on February 20, law enforcement swiftly initiated a pursuit. According to the complaint, an extensive inventory audit uncovered the substitution of the original diamond ring with a fake one.

Through meticulous examination of surveillance footage, conducted as part of an internal investigation by the jewellery store personnel, a pattern emerged. The footage depicted an elderly man posing as a potential customer on the fateful day, expressing keen interest in the coveted solitaire diamond ring without making a purchase. Subsequent analysis of the evidence led officials to conclude that the genuine diamond had been surreptitiously swapped with a fake one by the cunning thief.

In response to the gravity of the situation, the Bengaluru Central Division police have taken decisive action by registering a First Information Report (FIR) for cheating in connection with the audacious heist.
