Over 100 farmers from Karnataka to participate
50 mango stalls and 15 jackfruit stalls to be put up

Bengaluru’s Lalbagh Botanical Garden is gearing up to host its annual Mango Mela, a haven for mango enthusiasts, starting from May 23. The Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation Limited (KSMDMCL) finalized the decision in a meeting with stakeholders, including farmers, on May 9.
The three-week-long event is expected to feature participation from over 100 farmers hailing from different parts of Karnataka. With around 50 mango stalls and 15 jackfruit stalls, the mela promises a diverse array of offerings for visitors.

One of the highlights of the event is the anticipated availability of Kari Ishad mangoes, originating from Ankola in Uttara Kannada district, which received the Geographical Indications (GI) tag in 2023. Renowned for its unique aroma, luscious taste, and rich pulp content, Kari Ishad is esteemed as one of the finest mango varieties.
The mela will also showcase other famous mango varieties such as Kesar from Koppal, Badami from Chitradurga and Tumakuru, alongside regional favorites like Raspuri and Thothapuri from areas like Kolar, Ramanagara, Chikkaballapur, and Bengaluru Rural.
Prior to the main event, a precursor named Mango Utsav was held for four days in April at the National College ground, drawing thousands of mango enthusiasts.
