Bengaluru: Laser cutting shop catches fire in Chickpet

Of late the number of fire accidents in Bengaluru is increasing. A fire accident has come to light from the Chickpet area. The incident unfolded at 9:30 PM on 6th March. The 2nd and 3rd floor of a building opposite Abhinav theatre  caught on fire. It is suspected that a short-circuit is the reason for this. A laser cutting shop and electrical showroom owned by a person named Prabhu located in the B.V. K Iyengar street was damaged by the fire. 3 workers are said to have been working when the incident occurred. The workers are believed to have rushed downstairs when the fire spread on. There were luckily no injuries as a result of this. 

The store falls under the limits of the City Market Police Station. Officials of the fire department rushed to the spot to extinguish the fire. Their timely intervention reduced the extent of damage. 

It has now come to the forefront that the store was operating illegally in the region. Such stores need to be industrial locations as opposed to crowded locations such as Chickpet. It also has negative repercussions on health. Localities have stated that despite warnings by the Health Department, no action was taken.
