Man jumped on Metro tracks at the Attiguppe station

He sustained grievous injuries and succumbed

Metro train services suspended from Magadi road to Challaghatta

In a tragic incident in Bengaluru, a man jumped on the Metro tracks at the Attiguppe station around 2pm on Friday. As a result he sustained grievous injuries and succumbed. Metro authorities have confirmed the development in a post on X.
Owing to the attempt, Metro train services were suspended from Magadi road to Challaghatta.

More on the deceased
The deceased is aged around 24, and is studying at a private college. He had come to Bengaluru to pursue his studies. Due to the impact of the fall, his body has been cut into two.

Measure to thwart such attempts
The BMRCL has been plagued with suicide attempts. So, in order to make the electrified tracks inaccessible to people, it has now come up with a plan. As per it, the BMRCL will install platform screen doors (PSD) all along the platform.

How PSDs work
PSD acts as a protective barrier to mitigate potential incidents, such as individuals falling onto the tracks or wandering beyond designated platform areas. Presently, Namma Metro relies on platform guards to oversee and manage passenger movement near metro platforms.

In an earlier incident, a 23-year-old passenger identified as Saron from Kerala had jumped onto the tracks at Jalahalli station as a train approached.
These safety enhancements aim to curb such incidents and create a more secure environment for metro commuters.
