Tushar Giri Nath, the District Election Officer and Chief Commissioner, emphasized the importance of adherence to the directives and circulars issued by the Election Commission pertaining to the impending General Lok Sabha Election 2024.

During the gathering at the Malleswaram IPP Center today, which focused on the implementation of the model code of conduct and related matters concerning the Lok Sabha election, he stressed the effective enforcement of the model code of conduct. He urged officials to vigilantly monitor any breaches of the code and take necessary actions to prevent violations.

Instructions regarding the removal of names and photographs of public representatives within BBMP:

Upon the promulgation of the General Lok Sabha Elections Code of Conduct, officials were instructed to promptly remove the names, portraits, and advertisements of representatives from government premises and other public areas.

Prohibitions were placed on the display of flex, posters, banners, leaflets, and wall writings in public spaces, including government properties. Mr. Nath directed officials to lodge complaints against individuals responsible for such displays.

Furthermore, it was mandated that the names and portraits of public representatives should not be featured on nameplates at facilities like water units, parks, and other public areas. Any existing displays should be immediately removed or covered to conceal them from view.

Roadside nameplates bearing the names and contact information of representatives were to be stripped of such details. Additionally, any scheduled events within the Corporation’s jurisdiction were to be canceled until the conclusion of the election period.

Nath also instructed the swift removal of political representatives’ photographs from official government websites within 24 hours.

Establishment of control rooms:

To support the Lok Sabha elections, Nath proposed the establishment of 24-hour control rooms at the offices of the Returning Officer (RO) and the Registrar of Electors (ARO).

Activation of teams and deployment of check posts:

Teams such as FST/SST (Flying Squad and Surveillance Teams) and others were to be activated to oversee compliance with the election-related model code of conduct. Additionally, check posts were to be promptly established at key locations.

Present at the meeting were Special Commissioner of the Election Division, Selvamani, MCC Nodal Officer, Munish Moudgil, Additional District Election Officers, Dr. K Harish Kumar, Dr. K Dayanand, Vinoth Priya, Nodal Officers, and other officials.
