Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, during the inauguration of the Millets and Organic International Trade Fair 2024 at the Palace Grounds today, made a significant announcement regarding the incorporation of millets into the menus of Indira canteens and school lunches.

Emphasizing the importance of promoting healthier dietary choices, the CM revealed plans to convene a meeting among relevant departments to deliberate and finalize the integration of millets in these public food services. The objective is to enhance the health and strength of the citizens and school children within the state.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah pledged the state government’s commitment to establishing a dedicated centre to bolster millet crop promotion. This center will play a crucial role in advancing the production of high-quality millet seeds, fostering the development of new varieties, and facilitating millet exports.

Highlighting the government’s consistent efforts to support organic and millet cultivation, the CM referenced the implementation of the Organic Agriculture Policy in 2004 and its revision in 2014. He underscored the significance of these policies in encouraging organic and millet crop cultivation.
