Miscreants stole 900 tender coconuts belonging to Lakshmamma

Over the past few years, life has presented numerous challenges for 58-year-old P Lakshmamma. First, her husband left her, and then her two children moved away. Despite these hardships, she managed to sustain herself by selling tender coconuts along Sarjapur Road. However, just as she was finding her footing, a devastating setback occurred: Overnight, miscreants stole approximately 900 tender coconuts that belonged to her.

Residing in Kodathi Gate, Lakshmamma used to earn around Rs 500 per day from her tender coconut sales. On January 21, she purchased 1,000 coconuts from a supplier, and despite it being a Sunday, she successfully sold around 100 coconuts.

The following Monday, when she returned to her usual spot, she discovered that the remaining 900 coconuts had vanished. All that remained were the sickle used to cut open the coconuts, a broken plastic chair, and the plastic covering that had enclosed the coconuts.

According to Lakshmamma, there had been no instances of theft in the area in the past 10 years during her absence. Distressed by the situation, she reported the incident to the police at Bellandur station, who promptly registered an FIR.

Unfortunately, the absence of nearby CCTV cameras posed a challenge for the authorities, and they are now exploring alternative methods to apprehend the culprits.
