Bengaluru: NAAC Director throws light on ‘Binary Accreditation’ during consultative workshop

    Nirmaljeet proposed Education 5.0 focusing on online and blended learning

    Aim is to increase the number of colleges that have accreditation

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) conducted a regional consultative workshop in Bengaluru on July 16th. The aim of the workshop was to gather feedback from universities and colleges with regard to the implementation of the binary accreditation manual before its formal launch. 5 such workshops will be held across India. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi IAS (retd), Former Chairperson National Council for National Council for Vocational Education and Training , Govt of India. “Prof. Kalsi in his address emphasised that the necessity for the change in NAAC parameters originated from NEP 2020 particularly integrating National Curriculum Framework work and Skill development. He bought the major approaches for integrating skills in disciplines such as humanities and social science and other disciplines. He proposed Education 5.0 which focuses on online and blended learning. He emphasised the need for integrating the upcoming innovations in the accreditation framework by incorporating flexibility,” a press release from the NAAC stated. 

A presentation regarding the Binary Accreditation Framework was made by the Director of NAAC Prof. Ganesan Kannabiran. The framework is inspired by the attributes mentioned in the Dr Radhakrishnan Committee report. One of the aims is to increase the number of colleges that have received accreditation.

Institutions in rural and remote parts of the country will be identified across aspirational districts in India. 4 more workshops will be held in Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar.
