The New Year’s eve sprang a pleasant surprise for Namma Metro as it earned a windfall of Rs 1 crore 64 lakh and 74 thousand rupees on that day!

As many as 6 lakh 26 thousand people made use of the metro.

As per Metro sources, on any given Sunday, the number of passengers doesn’t go beyond 5 lakh.

Metro had extended its services till 2: 15 this morning.

Since its inception, Namma Metro has been a boon to the silicon city as it has helped people go from one point to another quickly. Presently, it operates on two lines, running from North to South and East to West.

Also, it has played a great role in lessening the traffic on the roads and in turn, reduce pollution.

However, one major drawback of this mode of transportation is the problem of last-mile connectivity. Since it is difficult for people to get cabs or autos to travel back to their doorstep, many prefer not to take it.

Metro authorities are seriously considering solving this problem.

Bengaluru welcomes New Year enthusiastically

Lakhs of Bengalureans hit the streets on Sunday to take part enthusiastically in the New Year celebrations. Places like MG Road, Church Street among others saw revellers from across the city drown themselves in celebrations.
