The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has unveiled plans for the construction of a pedestrian bridge spanning the Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway near Challaghatta station. Set for completion by September end, the project aims to fortify connectivity and safety for metro commuters and pedestrians alike.

Notably, learners from Rajarajeshwari Medical College, ACS College of Engineering, Rajarajeshwari Dental College, SDM Institute of Ayurveda and Hospital, and ICFAI Business School to reap significant benefits from this infrastructural enhancement. The metro station already witnesses a substantial footfall, estimated at around 10,000 individuals daily, particularly during peak hours, as per reports.

A senior BMRCL official reportedly disclosed that the bridge’s construction, budgeted at Rs 2.22 crore, will feature stairs and lifts to accommodate all users. This initiative aims to heighten safety and convenience for commuters frequenting the station, especially students and pedestrians.

College students have voiced their anticipation for the forthcoming bridge, underscoring the transformative impact it will have on their daily travel.

Local residents who often traverse the highway on foot have also hailed the project, citing the hazards posed by heavy traffic.
