There is anger among commuters over the closure of the Peenya flyover. This will have a bearing on not just Peenya but across many parts of Bengaluru. This is not the first time the flyover has been closed. The constant need for repair has become a source of annoyance for the public.

The Peenya Flyover will be closed starting from 11 PM on 16th January. It will remain closed until 11 AM on 19th January. The reason for this is the load testing which is taking place along the flyover.

Peenya Flyover falls under National Highway-4. “Owing to the need for repairing and retrofitting measures for distressed Nelamangala viaduct as required by NHAI for which there is a need for load test to be conducted to verify the elevated stricture (Dr.Shivakumar Swamiji Flyover) Part of National Highway 4. The National Highways Authority has requested to prohibit the movement of all kinds of vehicles from 16.01.2024, night 11:00 pm to 19.01.2024, 11 am. The movement of all kinds of vehicles is prohibited along Peenya Elevated Highway from 16.01.2024 to 19.01.2024,” The Bengaluru police had earlier said.

Vehicles that are headed towards Bengaluru from Nelamangala can use an alternate route to achieve the same. Vehicles can reach the Kennametal India Limited establishment which is close to the flyover in NH-4 and proceed towards the Service Road and later to the 8th Mile. The next part of the journey would entail moving towards Dasarahalli, Jalahalli Cross and the Peenya Police Station. The vehicle can then finally proceed towards Goraguntepalya via the SRS junction.
