Bengaluru has been faced with a drinking water crisis for more than one week. Dependency on water from tankers has increased. This led to an increase in prices of water tankers. The State Government had to step in to regulate the prices.

The crisis however still persists. Paying Guest (PG) accommodations across Bengaluru are particularly getting affected. Tankers are being sold in the range of Rs 2000 to Rs 2500. Despite explicit orders from the state government, the water tanker mafia has found ways to charge exorbitant rates from citizens. There is now growing pressure from the owners of the Paying Guest accommodations to the state government to notice this trend persistent across Bengaluru.

Amidst the crisis, there has been growing anger against PG accommodations among Bengaluru citizens. Accusations of illegal borewell constructions and bribing of valvemen to favour their buildings are being made. Inaction from government authorities with regard to this has been one of the complaints of citizens.
