Bengaluru: Police get a major breakthrough in AEPS scam

    5 have been arrested in relation to 5 major cases in the AEPS scam

The Bengaluru Police have managed to get a major breakthrough in their investigation of the Aadhar Enabled Payment Systems (AEPS) scam. The Bengaluru Police Commissioner B.Dayananda’s plan has borne fruits. 

A total of 128 cases pertaining to the AEPS scam were registered across Bengaluru. The cyber crime complaints were handed over to the Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) by Dayananda. The investigations pertaining to the AEPS scam were handed over to the DCP of Northeast Bengaluru Lakshmi Prasad. The accused in this case are alleged to have carried out the scam through the usage of biometrics. Lakshmi Prasad started by trying to ascertain how the accused got hold of the biometric details. 

They have reportedly got hold of the biometric details through the Registrar Office. Some of the offices had brought the details out to the public domain. The DCP informed the Registrar Offices of this lapse after which the details were removed from the public domain. 5 have been arrested in relation to 5 major cases in the AEPS scam. There is a search operation underway to nab those who procured this data in exchange of money.

 5 complaints have been registered in the Cyber Economics and Narcotics Police Station. Matuir Rehman, Abuzar, Mohammad, Arif and Nashik Alam have been arrested. They are being interrogated for further leads in this case.
