In a significant breakthrough, the Bengaluru Police have successfully apprehended a trio of criminals involved in a spate of thefts targeting paying guest accommodations (PGs).
The arrested individuals, namely Yuvaraju, Prabhu, and Selvaraju, were taken into custody within the jurisdiction of Yeshwanthapur.
The modus operandi of the gang involved Prabhu and Yuvaraju booking a room in KR Puram, from where they would masquerade as students and infiltrate various PGs. Operating brazenly during daylight hours, the perpetrators specifically targeted laptops and other valuable items.
The stolen goods were then surreptitiously transported to Chittoor via bus, where the criminals sold them at various locations, fetching approximately Rs 25,000 per laptop. The gang managed to pilfer an alarming five laptops on a daily basis, contributing to their considerable haul.
Subsequent investigations by police led to the recovery of a substantial cache, including 50 laptops and 22 mobile phones.
The Yeshwantpur police are presently engaged in an ongoing investigation to delve deeper into the extent of the gang’s activities and identify potential accomplices.
