Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Somashekar posted in the Byadarahalli Police Station was suspended on account of not filing a First Information Report (FIR) despite a complaint of a robbery of Rs 8 lakh from a godown coming to his notice. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of the Bengaluru West division Girish, drafted an order to have Somashekar suspended. 

The complainant Munireddy had clothes amounting to Rs 8 lakh stolen from his godown. Somashekar however did not file an FIR and only felt obligated to file a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR). 

This has been marked as irresponsible conduct. Girish asked Somashekar to provide a report explaining his side of the story. An enquiry was conducted with regard to this incident. Inconsistencies in the report file by Somashekar were noticed. On the basis of the very same report, PSI Somashekar was suspended from his post.
