Arun Yogiraj who sculpted the Sriramalalla statue that was installed in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir during the Ram Mandir Mandi Pran Pratishtha has been conferred with the “Shilpi Ratna” award. This transpired in an event organised by NewsFirst.
The event was conducted in the Jnana Jyothi Conference Hall in the Central College, Bangalore. Leader of Opposition from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) R Ashok, Minister of Transport and Muzrai Minister in the Government of Karnataka Ramalinga Reddy, Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NewsFirst S.Ravikumar, Chief Editor of NewsFirst S.H Maruthi, Sandalwood actress Sapthami Gowda and renowned scholar Shelvapillai Iyengar attended the event among others.
Sculptor Arun Yogiraj put in sustained efforts for 6 to 8 months in order to have the Ram Lalla statue prepared. Arun Yogiraj originally hails from the Mysuru district of Karnataka. The sculpture has been praised for retaining the glow that one would associate with the child-avatar of Lord Ram. It has helped Arun Yogiaj gain recognition at a national level. Arun Yogiraj’s family has traditionally been involved in sculpting. E was initiated into sculpting at a young age.
