Unlawful garbage disposal on roads remains widespread challenge

Commercial establishments engaging in large-scale waste dumping

CCTVs would facilitate the apprehension of miscreants in the act

In response to the pervasive issue of indiscriminate garbage dumping, residents of Electronic City are urging the installation of CCTV cameras. Specifically, they are advocating for the deployment of a minimum of 10 CCTVs at the identified hotspots for trash accumulation.

The unlawful disposal of garbage on roads remains a widespread challenge throughout Bengaluru, despite the panchayat’s authorization of a vendor for door-to-door garbage collection.

Residents continue to experience no relief from this problem. While they acknowledge witnessing commercial establishments engaging in large-scale waste dumping, constant monitoring to curb such illegal activities is impractical without the aid of CCTVs.

Consequently, the residents approached the local MLA during a recent public interaction focused on addressing concerns within the Hulimangala panchayat area, requesting the installation of CCTVs in Electronic City neighborhoods.

Specifically, the residents are seeking three CCTV cameras on the Shikaripalya main road, three on the Gollahalli main road, and four on the Sai Baba main road.

They emphasize that CCTVs would facilitate the apprehension of miscreants in the act. Despite six months of garbage collection by an authorized vendor from apartments, residents are dismayed by the persistent dumping of waste on the roads.

Each flat contributes Rs 60-70 for collection, yet the problem persists. Given the observation of commercial establishments dumping waste at various times of the day, residents stress the necessity of CCTVs to address this ongoing issue.
