Until now, only light motor vehicles were allowed to use the flyover. Starting from July 29th however, the route will also be open to use for bus, lorry and truck drivers. This was banned for a period of 2 years. This caused traffic jams on the Tumku Road. Buses headed to Northern Karnataka were stuck in this jam. “As special repair work is in progress on the Elevated Flyover, in this regard, every Friday from 6.00AM to Saturday 6.00AM Heavy Motor Vehicles movement is restricted on the Elevated Flyover. Heavy motor vehicles are to move on the left side lane and speed limit of 40 km/hour is restricted on the Elevated Flyover,” a public notice from the Bengaluru Traffic Police and the NHAI mentioned. With the restriction now having been lifted, it can be expected that the traffic along Tumkur Road would now be able to move freely.
