Woman put forward grievance to DCM DK Shivakumar

Rithamma wanted to open an account under her wards’ names

Amount was returned to Rithamma via PhonePe after complaint

Based on a grievance put forward by a woman in front of the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka DK Shivakumar during the Jana Spandana program, action was initiated within a week. The woman complained about being demanded a bribe from the officials of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in the Jana Spandana program.

This was allegedly demanded in order to create an account for the woman. The officials claimed to be from the BBMP Revenue Department and grabbed Rs 1 lakh from the woman.

A complaint was filed in the K.R Puram Police Station and the complainant has been identified as Rithamma. Rithamma got acquainted with Vinay and Venkatesh during this incident. Rithamma also wanted to open an account under her wards’ names. Vinay and Venkatesh demanded Rs 1 lakh for this.

However as soon the payment was made Vonay and Venkatesh were untraceable. It was only upon enquiry that it was unearthed that both of them were not associated with the BBMP. They received the payment through the UPI Gateway. The police have begun their investigation after having filed a case.

As soon as the complaint was lodged, the amount was returned to Rithamma via PhonePe. However, the accused are yet to be apprehended.
