Govt plans to entrust authorized architects to self-declare building plans
Aims to alleviate challenges faced by citizens in obtaining approvals from BBMP
Curb corruption and streamline the building plan approval process
BBMP’s process for approving building plans is set to undergo a significant change as the government plans to entrust authorized architects with the authority to self-declare building plans.
This shift, announced by Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar, aims to alleviate the challenges faced by citizens in obtaining approvals from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
In an event organized by the Indian Institute of Interior Designing, Shivakumar revealed that the forthcoming Government Order will empower empanelled architects to independently declare building plans without the need for BBMP approval. Currently, individuals often face bureaucratic hurdles and extended waiting periods, with some property owners experiencing delays of over six months in obtaining plan sanctions from BBMP.
Shivakumar emphasized the analogy of authorized architects functioning similarly to chartered accountants, designing buildings within legal frameworks and submitting self-declarations to BBMP.
This initiative is driven by the goal of curbing corruption and minimizing the inconvenience caused to citizens by streamlining the building plan approval process.
