To reclaim vehicles, owners must settle fines or appeal court

City has approx 2,681 vehicles with outstanding fines exceeding Rs 50,000

In a targeted operation aimed at vehicle owners whose accumulated traffic fines have surpassed Rs 50,000, the traffic police in the southern division have impounded 85 vehicles. To reclaim their vehicles, owners must settle the fines or appeal to the relevant traffic court for potential reductions. Regardless of the approach, fines must be paid, according to police authorities.

The seized vehicles were taken from various areas such as Jayanagar, Banashankari, KS Layout, Basavanagudi, VV Puram, Hulimavu, Adugodi, Mico Layout, Madivala, HSR Layout, Electronics City, and Bellandur. Notably, Jayanagar alone saw the seizure of twenty-six vehicles.

DCP (traffic-south) Shivaprakash Devaraj reportedly disclosed that there are approximately 850 vehicles in the southern part of the city with outstanding fines exceeding Rs 50,000.

The police have initiated the seizure of such vehicles. Paying a partial amount to retrieve their vehicles is not allowed and surrendering the vehicle to the police station is also not an option. Regardless, fines must be settled. A two-week grace period would be provided to violators before proceeding to file charges in the relevant court.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) MN Anucheth reportedly revealed that the city has approximately 2,681 vehicles with outstanding fines exceeding Rs 50,000.
