Transgenders using UPI to seek money

They are seen doing so in Jayanagar, Bengaluru

Police have warned them not to pester people

You would have used UPI payment method to pay for groceries, essentials and even to transfer amounts to your friends.

But have you ever done it to pay beggars? As strange as it may sound, transgenders in Jayanagar, Bengaluru have been using Google Pay to get amounts from people.

Visuals of the same have gone viral.

Generally, when beggars or transgenders seek money, we come with platitudes like “There is no change.”

Now with digital transactions, transgenders can easily counter this general reason.

In this way, it is alleged that these transgenders make thousands of rupees every month.

A few days ago, the Bengaluru police had warned transgenders not to pester the general public for money. But did they ever think that transgenders would resort to such sophistication in their beggary attempts?

The police have also banned begging in several areas of the city and even arrested a few. But it seems to have had no impact.

Now with so many digital transactions, will these transgenders also come under the IT lens?
