The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is set to implement a 10% reduction in water supply for consumers exceeding 40 lakh liters per day starting from April 10. This measure will primarily affect high-rise apartments, large gated communities, and other sizable establishments.

Prior to this, BWSSB had already declared a 20% reduction in water supply for 38 bulk users consuming over two crore liters daily.

Chairing a meeting on April 1, BWSSB Chairman Ram Prasath Manohar V engaged with users consuming between 40 lakh and 2 crore liters daily, urging them to embrace the “green star challenge.” This initiative emphasizes adopting water conservation technologies, utilizing treated water, monitoring borewells, implementing rainwater harvesting, and promoting awareness among users. The green star challenge has been extended to restaurants, bulk users, and apartment complexes by BWSSB.
