The state government introduced the Shakti Yojana with the aim to empower women. However, for female conductors like Manjamma, who tirelessly work day and night face torture at the hands of higher officials who force them to work even during their menstruation.

Manjamma, a conductor at KSRTC Depot 5 in Deepanjali Nagar, recorded a video to highlight the alleged torment faced by her and her colleagues. In the video, she drew attention to the alleged mistreatment by CTM Anthony George who cast aspersions on them.

Manjamma took further action by writing a letter to both the Chief Minister and the Transport Minister, detailing the reported abuse. The letter, endorsed by 44 individuals from Depot 5, was addressed to the Transport Minister, outlining the alleged mistreatment suffered at the hands of officials.

The grievances outlined in the letter include instances where staff, including Manjamma, were forced to work long hours without respite. Complaints against depot manager M. Krishnappa’s tardiness in assigning duty to female conductors even when they report to duty in time were also mentioned. Allegations were also made that staff were coerced into completing their duties regardless of the late hours, and even when higher officials were made aware of the situation, no action was taken.

Manjamma’s complaints to the authorities emphasized various forms of mistreatment, such as being reprimanded for taking leave and being burdened with extra workload. Despite the challenges faced by female staff, they were reportedly subjected to undue pressure to complete their tasks.

In summary, the letter to the Transport Minister, signed by 44 staff members of Depot 5, highlighted numerous instances of alleged mistreatment and harassment. Additionally, Manjamma had also lodged a complaint with the Chief Minister during a public interaction session (Janaspandana).
