Teenager found hanging at her home under Channammanakere Achukattu police limits; a death note reveals emotional distress linked to family separation.
A 17-year-old girl died by suicide in Bengaluru’s Channammanakere Achukattu police station limits, allegedly distressed over not receiving love and emotional support from her parents, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Lekhana. The incident came to light on Wednesday night when she was found hanging inside her house. Family members alerted the police, following which officers rushed to the spot and began preliminary investigation.
According to the police, Lekhana had written a death note stating that she felt lonely and deprived of her parents’ affection. In the note, she reportedly mentioned that she was responsible for her own death, indicating deep emotional pain.

Investigations revealed that Lekhana had recently failed her Class 10 examination and was staying at home. Her parents were living separately due to family disputes. While her father was residing elsewhere, Lekhana was staying with her mother.
The girl and her mother had moved into the rented house barely 15–20 days ago. For the past two to three years, there had been no understanding between the girl’s parents, who were originally from Nagamangala in Mandya district and had shifted to Bengaluru. The mother was working at a private supermarket, while frequent arguments between the husband and wife had led them to live separately for the last few years. The girl and her mother were earlier staying in a rented house in Srinagar before shifting to Manjunath Nagar recently. Police said the girl was under mental stress due to her disrupted education and ongoing conflict between her parents.
On Wednesday afternoon, when her mother had gone to work, the girl allegedly ended her life by hanging. The matter came to light when the mother returned home for lunch.
After completing the spot inspection, the police shifted the body to the KIMS hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. Officials confirmed that an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) has been registered at the Channammanakere Achukattu police station, and further inquiry is underway.
Police said they are verifying all aspects related to the incident, including family circumstances and the contents of the death note, as part of the investigation.
