Supply disruption due to EMF meter installation work near Gottigere reservoir under Cauvery Stage-5 project; BWSSB urges residents to store water in advance.

Bengaluru residents are set to face a 24-hour disruption in Cauvery water supply on February 26, following crucial installation work near the Gottigere reservoir under the Cauvery Stage-5 project. The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has announced that water supply will remain suspended from 6 am on February 26 until 6 am on February 27.

The interruption is necessitated due to the installation of Electromagnetic Flow (EMF) meters near the Gottigere balancing reservoir, which forms a key component of the fifth phase of the Cauvery water supply scheme. Officials stated that the work is essential to improve monitoring, distribution efficiency, and long-term water management in the city.

As a result, several localities across Bengaluru will experience a complete halt or major reduction in water supply during the 24-hour period. The affected areas include Whitefield, Nellurahalli, Siddapura, Nagonadanahalli, Ramagondanahalli, Channasandra, Hoodi, Garudachar Palya, Doddanekkundi, Munekolalu, Kumaraswamy Layout, Poorna Prajna Layout, Banashankari, Kollahalli, Anjanapura, Gottigere, Begur, Kodichikkanahalli, Kudlu, Kadugodi, and nearby surrounding areas.

BWSSB has advised residents living in these localities to take advance precautions by storing sufficient water to meet their household needs during the supply disruption. The board has also requested citizens to use water judiciously and avoid wastage during the outage period.
Officials reassured that supply will be restored immediately after the completion of the installation work.
