A Bengaluru-based married couple has drawn widespread attention on social media after openly sharing a detailed account of how much they spent and invested in 2025. The video, posted on Instagram by Kritagya Nayyar, offers a transparent look into the financial life of a working couple living in the city and has triggered intense online discussions.
In the video, Nayyar and his wife Ruchi calmly narrate their yearly expenses, breaking down where their money went. One of their biggest costs was housing. Insurance formed another key expense. Nayyar explained that they spent ₹1 lakh on various insurance policies, including health insurance for himself, Ruchi and his mother, term insurance for himself, car insurance and a corporate medical insurance top-up.
Transport and daily commuting also added up. Expenses on Uber rides, fuel and car servicing together came to nearly ₹1.4 lakh. Travel was another major category. The couple shared that they went on three international trips along with multiple domestic journeys, spending around ₹4 lakh in total. They noted that credit card reward points helped offset some costs. During their US trip alone, they spent ₹2 lakh on shopping, while food and accommodation were free as Nayyar’s sister lives there.
One of the largest single expenses mentioned in the video was a family gift. Nayyar said he bought his father a new car worth ₹11.2 lakh. Tax payments also took a toll, with ₹3.5 lakh paid as pending dues discovered during income tax filing.
Other expenses included a yearly gym membership costing ₹24,000 and miscellaneous spending of around ₹1.5 lakh on app subscriptions, coffee outings and remaining wedding-related costs. Adding all categories together, the couple said their total expenditure for 2025 stood at ₹38 lakh.
Apart from spending, the couple highlighted their focus on savings. They revealed that they jointly invested ₹25 lakh during the year in mutual funds and other private investment instruments, a point that also drew significant attention online.
