Andhra Pradesh achieves a major infrastructure milestone as NHAI creates global records in 24 hours, boosting momentum for the Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Economic Corridor.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has created history by setting two Guinness World Records during the construction of the Bengaluru-Kadap-–Vijayawada Expressway in Andhra Pradesh. The achievement was announced by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday, who described it as a proud moment for both the state and the country.

According to the Chief Minister, the records were achieved on the Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Economic Corridor (NH-544G) through M/s Rajpath Infracon Pvt. Ltd. In a continuous 24-hour operation, 28.95 lane-kilometres of road were laid, along with 10,675 metric tonnes of bituminous concrete, earning two entries in the Guinness World Records.

Posting on social media platform X, CM Naidu said the feat reflects the vision of the Government of India and the strong push for world-class highway infrastructure under Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. He also praised the dedication of engineers, workers and on-ground teams, noting that the work was carried out while strictly adhering to NHAI’s quality standards.

The Chief Minister further stated that attempts are underway to achieve two more Guinness World Records on this corridor by January 11, 2026, on Packages 2 and 3 of the project in Andhra Pradesh.

The Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada greenfield national highway project has recently gathered pace and is expected to significantly improve connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and Bengaluru. Once completed, the six-lane, access-controlled expressway will reduce travel time between Amaravati and Bengaluru from the current 11-12 hours to nearly six hours.

The expressway will pass through Guntur, Prakasam, Kurnool and Kadapa districts in Andhra Pradesh before entering Karnataka. Taken up under Bharatmala Phase-II, the corridor includes both greenfield and brownfield stretches, designed to bypass congested towns and existing highways to allow faster and uninterrupted movement of passengers and freight.
