A woman has accused a man of cheating her of ₹5 lakh by falsely promising a house on lease. After repeated complaints and alleged inaction by local police, the case was registered following her approach to the Police Commissioner’s office.
A serious allegation of cheating has surfaced in Bengaluru, where a woman claims she was defrauded of ₹5 lakh by a man who promised to provide a house on lease but failed to deliver even after taking the money.
According to the complainant, the accused, identified as Abdul Hasan, allegedly showed her a vacant house and convinced her that it would be leased to her. Trusting his assurance, she paid an amount of ₹5 lakh as lease advance. However, even after receiving the money, the house was not handed over to her.
The woman further alleged that when she repeatedly asked for either the house or a refund of her money, Abdul Hasan abused her using foul language and avoided returning the amount. She has claimed that this was not an isolated incident and that several others may have been cheated in a similar manner by the same individual using false lease promises.

The complainant also raised serious concerns over the response of the local police. She alleged that despite approaching DJ Halli police station and submitting a complaint, no immediate action was taken and an FIR was not registered initially.
Frustrated by the lack of response, the woman approached the Police Commissioner’s office seeking justice. Following her complaint at the Commissioner’s office, an FIR was finally registered in the case.
Police officials have confirmed that DJ Halli police have now taken up the investigation based on the FIR. Further inquiry is underway to verify the allegations, including claims that the accused showed different houses to people and collected money by falsely promising lease agreements.
