5,000 km run from Kanyakumari to Kashmir: Om Satija’s inspiring mission for children

Young Indo-Australian athlete Om Satija is running across India under the ‘One India Run initiative to inspire youth and raise ₹60 lakh to support sports training for 1,000 underprivileged children.

In a remarkable display of endurance and social commitment, young Indo-Australian athlete Om Satija is undertaking a rare 5,000-kilometre run from Kanyakumari to Kashmir under the ‘One India Run’ initiative. The ambitious journey aims to inspire young people across the country and raise funds to support sports training for economically underprivileged children.

Om Satija recently visited the GBA headquarters, where his extraordinary effort was appreciated and honoured by Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao. The Commissioner lauded the athlete’s dedication, stating that such initiatives not only promote fitness but also instil a spirit of social responsibility among youth.

The 5,000 km run is designed to raise a total fund of ₹60 lakh, which will be used to provide professional sports training to 1,000 children in the coming years. So far, ₹20 lakh has already been collected through this campaign, bringing the initiative closer to its goal.

By the 10th day of his run, Om Satija successfully completed 481 kilometres while passing through Karnataka. Of this, nearly 50 kilometres were covered within Bengaluru city limits, drawing attention and support from fitness enthusiasts and local residents.

As part of his journey, Om Satija will participate in the ‘Run for Celebration’ event scheduled to be held today at a park in Koramangala. The event aims to encourage citizens to join the movement, promote healthy living, and contribute to the fundraising mission.

The ‘One India Run’ initiative stands as a unique blend of sports, social service, and youth motivation. Through his relentless run, Om Satija hopes to inspire a generation to dream big, stay fit, and contribute towards building opportunities for children from financially weaker backgrounds.
