Greater Bengaluru Authority to auction 98 properties in the Jayanagar zone on February 21 after repeated notices and reminders failed to recover long-pending property tax arrears.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has announced the auction of 98 properties belonging to property tax defaulters in the Jayanagar zone of Bengaluru South Corporation, aiming to recover ₹1,55,86,841 in long-pending dues.
According to GBA officials, the property owners failed to clear their tax liabilities despite being given multiple opportunities. The authority stated that several notices, demand letters, and repeated reminders were issued, but payments were not made within the stipulated time.

As per the GBA Act, 2025, all properties within the corporation limits must pay property tax every financial year. The Property Tax Assessment, Recovery and Maintenance Rules, 2024 outline the process for recovering unpaid taxes, including issuing show-cause notices, formal demand letters, and regular alerts through official communication channels.
The auction process is scheduled for February 21 and will be conducted under the supervision of the Zonal Joint Commissioner (Jayanagar Zone). The event will take place at the Corporation Commercial Offices Building, 2nd Block, Jayanagar, where complete details of the identified properties have already been displayed on the official notice board.
GBA officials clarified that property owners can avoid the auction by clearing the full tax dues before the auction date. If the pending amount is paid in complete, the concerned property will be withdrawn from the auction list.
