A Bengaluru startup unveils an intelligent waste-sorting bin with 95% accuracy, aiming to transform how public spaces manage garbage.
A Bengaluru-based startup has unveiled an AI-driven waste segregation bin designed to identify and sort garbage with up to 95% accuracy, marking a significant step toward improving waste management in India’s crowded urban centres. The innovation, introduced at the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025, is aimed at making waste disposal easier and more efficient in public spaces.

The smart bin, named BinPro, functions through a simple user interaction. Items are held in front of the system, after which an AI sensor analyses the object and determines whether it is plastic, glass, or organic waste. Once identified, the machine automatically opens the matching compartment among its six built-in sections, allowing users to drop the item into the correct slot without any confusion.
BinPro is set to be deployed across several high-traffic locations. The startup plans to place the AI-enabled bins in airports, railway stations and large commercial centres in the initial phase. The 400-litre model will be available in the market with patent protection and is priced between ₹40,000 and ₹1.5 lakh.

Alongside this, the company is working on a fully automated solution for mixed and dry waste processing. This upcoming system aims to combine AI imaging, robotic mechanisms and conveyor-based sorting to handle waste without manual intervention. A patent for this advanced technology is currently under review.
