BMTC, BMRCL and Traffic Police launch integrated plan to improve last-mile connectivity for Metro passengers heading to Kempegowda International Airport.
In a significant step to improve airport connectivity in Bengaluru, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has started allowing its Vayuvajra airport buses to halt directly at all Namma Metro stations along the route. The move enables Metro passengers to board and alight airport buses right outside stations, eliminating the need to walk long distances to reach bus stops.
The initiative has been implemented jointly by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), BMTC, and the Bengaluru Traffic Police as part of a broader plan to strengthen last-mile connectivity for Metro users. Officials said the decision was taken after repeated feedback from passengers, especially air travellers struggling with luggage.
Earlier, Vayuvajra buses stopped only at designated BMTC bus stops, many of which were located far from Metro stations. This often caused inconvenience, forcing passengers to walk long distances, sometimes while carrying heavy baggage.

Along with this, BMTC has introduced new bus stops closer to Metro stations on the Purple Line (Whitefield-Challaghatta) and the Green Line (Madavara–Silk Institute). These changes came into effect on February 5 after joint inspections found that several existing bus stops were poorly located.
On the Purple Line, new stops have been added near Trinity and Hoodi Metro stations. On the Green Line, new or relocated bus stops have been created near Majunathanagar, Peenya, Lalbagh, South End Circle, Jaya Prakash Nagar, Konanakunte Cross, Vajarahalli and Thalaghattapura. In some locations, separate stops have been set up for each direction to ensure smooth movement.
BMRCL officials said that several other Metro stations already have bus stops within 100 metres. However, in a few locations, new stops could not be created due to space constraints. Authorities believe the new system will greatly ease transfers between Metro and buses, making airport travel faster, smoother, and more commuter-friendly.
