Unauthorised access to actor Darshan inside Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Jail exposes serious security lapses; DGP Alok Kumar orders probe, transfers jail warden and directs action against police personnel.
An unauthorised meeting involving actor Darshan inside Bengaluru’s high-security Parappana Agrahara Central Jail has led to swift disciplinary action by the Prison Department, exposing serious lapses in jail security and protocol.
The incident dates back to January 24, when a police constable from Yelahanka entered the jail premises. While the constable had officially come to the jail in connection with another case to produce accused persons, he allegedly misused the opportunity to meet actor Darshan, who is currently lodged in the prison.
According to officials, the constable approached Prabhu, a jail staff member working inside the prison, and requested him to show Darshan. Acting on this request, warden Prabhakar Chauhan allegedly helped facilitate the meeting by deliberately avoiding CCTV camera coverage inside the jail barracks. The constable was reportedly taken close enough to see Darshan inside the barrack area.

The unauthorised interaction later came to light during internal scrutiny. Prison Department DGP Alok Kumar, who visited Parappana Agrahara Jail on January 26 for an inspection, reviewed CCTV footage and noticed suspicious police movement inside the prison. The visuals clearly showed a police personnel attempting to access restricted areas.
Following this, Darshan was questioned by prison authorities. During the inquiry, the actor stated that someone wearing a khaki uniform had come to see him, prompting officials to dig deeper into the matter. Subsequent investigation revealed the role of jail staff member Prabhu and warden Prabhakar Chauhan in facilitating the visit.
Taking the matter seriously, DGP Alok Kumar ordered immediate action. Warden Prabhakar Chauhan was transferred to Chamarajanagar Jail, and a departmental inquiry was initiated against him. Jail staff member Prabhu’s role was also exposed during the probe.

Further, Alok Kumar directed the North-East Division DCP to initiate appropriate action against the Yelahanka police constable involved in the incident. Clear instructions were issued to proceed with disciplinary measures against all personnel found violating jail rules.
The DGP also ordered strict action against jail officials responsible for breaching security norms, stressing that no special privileges or unauthorised access would be tolerated inside prison premises, irrespective of the individual involved.
