Amazon has opened a 1.1M sq ft, 12-storey campus in Bengaluru, its 2nd largest in Asia. Hosting 7,000+ staff, it blends collaboration, recreation, and sustainability
Amazon has inaugurated its second largest office in Asia with a new campus in Bengaluru, underscoring the company’s long-term commitment to India. The 1.1 million square-foot facility, spread across 12 floors on a five-acre site, is designed to accommodate more than 7,000 employees working across ecommerce, operations, payments, technology, and seller services. Located about 15 kilometres from Kempegowda International Airport, the building was formally opened by Karnataka’s Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Dr. M.B. Patil.
The new campus reflects Amazon’s strategy of investing heavily in India’s digital economy. The company has already invested over $40 billion in the country and has pledged an additional $35 billion by 2030. Bengaluru, which has long been a hub for Amazon’s technology and business operations, continues to play a central role in its global innovation network.
The facility has been designed to foster collaboration and flexibility, with adaptable workspaces organized into self-sustaining neighbourhoods. These include meeting rooms, huddle spaces, breakout zones, and event areas capable of hosting more than 200 people. Beyond workspaces, employees will benefit from extensive recreational amenities such as basketball and pickleball courts, landscaped lawns, an amphitheater, and outdoor community areas. Cafeterias across two floors will serve diverse global cuisines, enhancing the employee experience.
Sustainability is a key focus of the project, aligning with Amazon’s pledge to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. The campus incorporates responsible material sourcing, reuse of office assets, and high-efficiency systems aimed at reducing both embodied and operational carbon.
The launch of this Bengaluru campus highlights Amazon’s dual priorities: strengthening its workforce ecosystem in India while advancing its global sustainability goals. By combining large-scale infrastructure with employee-centric design and environmental responsibility, Amazon is positioning Bengaluru as a cornerstone of its future growth in Asia.
