A custom fridge magnet featuring a long-delayed flyover has gone viral, turning a stalled infrastructure project into fresh meme material on social media.

An incomplete flyover that has symbolised infrastructure delays for years has unexpectedly found a new form of fame, this time as a fridge magnet. A woman from Bengaluru recently shared a photograph of a custom-made magnet depicting the still-under-construction Ejipura flyover, triggering widespread reactions and humour online.

The woman posted the image on X, explaining her choice behind the personalised magnets. She revealed that she had considered several Bengaluru localities such as Basavanagudi and Jayanagar before finalising her decision. Eventually, she chose Basavanagudi because of her emotional connection to the area. Alongside it, she also decided to include the Ejipura flyover due to her long personal association with it.

In her post, she mentioned that the decision was not easy, but the flyover had been a constant presence in her life for years, making it impossible to ignore. The post quickly gained traction, with users sharing jokes, memes and sarcastic takes on the never-ending construction.

The incomplete flyover has long been a subject of public ridicule and online humour. Social media users wasted no time in reviving old jokes and creating new ones, once again highlighting how the project has come to represent prolonged delays in urban development.

The Ejipura flyover is an elevated corridor built along Ejipura Main Road. It was planned to ease traffic congestion between the Inner Ring Road, Koramangala and nearby areas. Designed as a signal-free stretch, the flyover was expected to smoothen traffic flow across some of the city’s busiest junctions.

However, instead of easing traffic, the project itself became infamous. Construction began in 2017 and was originally expected to be completed within a few years. The work faced repeated disruptions after the initial contractor failed to deliver on time. Following the termination of the contract, several attempts to re-tender the project did not succeed.

Eventually, the project was awarded to BSCPL Infrastructure Ltd, but by then, the flyover had already earned a reputation as one of the city’s most delayed infrastructure ventures. Even after eight years, the structure remains incomplete, continuing to frustrate commuters while also providing endless material for online satire.
