Arrival of the second metro train for the Pink Line marks a key step as BMRCL prepares to open the elevated stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere in the first phase.
Bengaluru’s long-awaited Pink Line metro project has reached another important milestone with the arrival of its second train. The newly delivered metro coaches have reached the Kothanur depot, bringing fresh momentum to the much-anticipated corridor that promises to ease travel across key parts of the city.
The Pink Line is planned as a 21.26-kilometre-long route, combining both elevated and underground sections. As part of the initial rollout, BMRCL has begun preparations on the 7.5-kilometre elevated stretch, where trial runs will soon commence. This elevated section will include six stations and is expected to significantly improve connectivity once operational.

In the first phase, the metro service is planned to operate between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere. Officials from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) are targeting April for opening this stretch to the public, provided testing and safety checks progress as scheduled.
Meanwhile, construction work is continuing on the remaining 13.76 kilometres of the underground section. This portion of the corridor is currently under development, and BMRCL is working towards completing it within the year. Once the underground works are finished, there are plans to open the entire Pink Line by the end of the year, offering seamless connectivity along the full route.
