Anthropic has officially inaugurated its new office in Bengaluru, marking a major step in its expansion strategy in India, which is now the second-largest global market for its AI assistant, Claude. The move highlights India’s growing importance in the company’s global growth plans.

The newly opened Bengaluru centre becomes Anthropic’s second office in Asia after Tokyo. The facility will serve as a hub for operations, partnerships, and applied AI development, helping enterprises, digital-first companies, and startups build Claude-powered solutions tailored to Indian business needs.

Along with the office launch, the company announced new partnerships across the enterprise, education, and agriculture sectors. These collaborations aim to promote responsible and practical use of artificial intelligence, ensuring that AI solutions address real-world challenges while maintaining safety and trust.

India has emerged as a key market for Claude, with nearly half of its usage driven by tasks related to computing and mathematics. These include building applications, automating workflows, and modernising digital systems. Anthropic said its run-rate revenue in India has doubled since it announced its expansion plans in October 2025, underlining strong adoption and business growth.

The Bengaluru operations will be led by managing director Irina Ghose, a seasoned technology leader. The company also plans to hire local talent to strengthen engineering, customer support, and applied AI expertise. This will help organisations across sectors deploy AI tools effectively and responsibly.

With India playing a central role in Claude’s growth, Anthropic’s Bengaluru office is expected to become a key innovation and delivery hub, supporting enterprises and startups while accelerating India’s position in the global AI ecosystem.
