  • B-SMILE to produce a six-minute ₹85 lakh film on tunnel roads and flyovers
  • Projects worth ₹50,000+ crore to be highlighted in futuristic visuals
  • Critics call it wasteful PR, demand focus on fixing basics

To showcase futuristic infrastructure plans worth over ₹50,000 crore, B-SMILE is set to launch a six-minute short film. While officials call it a “vision film,” critics dismiss it as wasteful PR.

Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Ltd (B-SMILE), an offshoot of the BBMP, is stepping into the film-making space — but with a civic twist. The agency has proposed an ₹85 lakh, six-minute short film to highlight the city’s ambitious plans for twin tunnel roads, a network of elevated corridors, and buffer-zone roads, projects valued at over ₹50,000 crore.

The film will first depict the city’s existing challenges — gridlocked traffic and urban flooding — before transitioning into a futuristic Bengaluru featuring 120 km of new corridors. It will be released across digital platforms, television, and official presentations to showcase the city’s development potential.

Officials argue the project will help restore citizen confidence and attract investment. However, critics have slammed the plan as cosmetic, arguing that glossy videos cannot substitute for on-ground action in tackling potholes, flooding, and years of civic neglect.
